BioTools Innovator, the only accelerator dedicated to life science tools, announced today the five finalists in its 2026 program. Selected from a 30-company cohort, the finalists will vie for the $250,000 Grand Prize and the title of BioTools Innovator 2026 Winner at the Capstone Event on October 14 in San Diego, CA.

2026 BioTools Innovator Finalists including Caravel, eGlint, Pando Bioscience, and QuantumCyte
“Every one of this year’s finalists is solving a problem that’s been quietly slowing science down,” said Ayelet Marom, PhD, Managing Director of BioTools Innovator. “They’re shortening the distance between a question in the lab and an answer that helps a patient. The four finalist companies are:
- Caravel (Portland, OR): Building new protein machines for industrial applications; critical minerals processing, carbon capture, and more.
- eGlint (San Diego): eGlint is building the next generation of distributed proteomics for research and diagnostics.
- Pando Bioscience (Watertown, MA): Pando is building enzyme infrastructure for the medicine supply chain, starting with a one day, cell free kit for IVT ready DNA that replaces weeks of E. coli gigaprep in a $2B market.
- QuantumCyte (Fremont, CA): Platform for precise, high-throughput tissue extraction and enrichment for higher sensitivity molecular testing.
The BioTools Innovator Capstone Event brings together senior executives, investors, and top decision-makers in the industry. The event, supported by Tosoh USA, Medmarc, First Citizens Innovation Banking, and Greenberg Traurig includes a startup showcase featuring this year’s cohort, panel discussions, and the 2026 BioTools Innovator $250,000 Grand Prize competition. During the competition, the four finalists will each have seven minutes to pitch their value proposition and answer questions from a panel of industry experts. After the presentations, the audience will vote in real-time to select the winner.

As part of a rigorous selection process, together with the senior leadership teams of its corporate partners at Research Corporation Technologies, Broad Oak Capital Partners, Ecolab, Nissan Chemical America Corporation, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and over 120 industry judges from leading life science firms, BioTools Innovator evaluated the pitches of 82 candidates out of more than 500 applicants from 50 countries and 36 U.S. states. Thirty companies were then selected to participate in the 2026 BioTools Innovator Accelerator, which highlights best-in-class life science startups worldwide.
Ten of the companies selected participated in the Vanguard Accelerator, among them finalist eGlint. In addition to BTI programming and mentorship, these companies received additional support to develop a strategy around how their innovation can support the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority’s (BARDA) health security mission.
Reviewers and experts that participated in BioTools Innovator pitch events included representatives from Agilent, AstraZeneca, BD, Bio-Rad, bioMérieux, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Catalant, Charles River Laboratories, Cytiva, Danaher, DeciBio, Draper, General Inception, Genentech (Roche), Ginkgo Bioworks, Genoa Ventures, Illumina, Illumina Ventures, Johnson & Johnson, Lonza Biopharma, Mitsui Chemicals, New England Biolabs, NIH, NIIMBL, Sanofi, Terumo, Tosoh USA, Sartorious, among others.
